I had a bit of trouble deciding what day of the week it was this morning.
I knew I had to work at the shoppe, I knew I had to go to the bank, and I knew a lot of other random nonsense .... but I just couldn't recall what day of the week it was. THEN I got to the bank and there on the teller station was a calendar reminding me that it was, indeed, FRIDAY ... the 13th, of course!
I hope I have set you up for my mental state because this is bound to be a rambling random list rather than an actual post of meaningful art info. However, if you want to look at some new art from Tammy, check out the Rusted Periwinkle facebook page. I just posted some of her new stuff. It's so fun, colorful, whimsical and light hearted. I was in a good mood all day after it came in and I hung it all up. Who cares what day it is! It was happy art day to me. This one is amongst my favorites. Adorable, huh?

So, this is me today, just in time to "do" my income tax return! Yikes!
This is one of my favorite photos of the Mr. He is getting ready (in earnest now) for his cross country journey. He is going to ride a vintage VESPA scooter from Savannah, GA to San Diego, CA. with a group of folks on the Cannonball Run 2012. I love his sense of adventure and his constant zest for life. I hope he has a wonderfully successful trip and I will miss him gobs and bunches. Especially his dimples. ;-)
I have a handful of very special women friends. This week I was able to have lunch with 2 of them at the same time. We went to The Painted Fish in Banner Elk, facebook page here HERE. YUM! Great twists on traditional food ... my favorite kinds of experiments~!! Fried green tomato on the BLT ... you know, innovative and inventive things. That isn't the most mouth watering example, but I'm hungry and don't want to go into shock right now. Chef Tom is awesome. Check out the page, then go to the restaurant. The staff is great. But back to the luncheon. It was phenomenal. And the good news we were celebrating?? Janine, who broke her left hip (of all things) in December (the 16th to be exact) is now vertical once again!! And she walked into the restaurant entirely on her own accord. And Patti Connor Greene, the amazing and wonderful potter, friend, mentor and all around sweetest person ever was the ring leader of the entire celebration. We had the best time! And we had dessert. (monumental for me since I've been on a special program since Feb 3). And it is simple and pure joy filled times like that when I understand completely what my momma was trying to tell me all those years that I just couldn't quite grasp. Girl friends are so very special. To top off that good news, another one of my sweet girl friends was awarded her CPA license yesterday. This CPA adventure has been in the works for quite some time. Those of you who have ever "jumped through hoops" to get certified in something know what she's been through. So Teresa, sweet friend, CONGRATULATIONS! And if I cannot sit down and get those taxes done, I will be your first and easiest client ever! :-)
I LOVE IT when good things happen to good people! Always!
This is a view from Brown's Mountain (I think?). When we were driving home from Charlotte we stopped at this overlook and I was able to snap a few shots. Then Paul helped someone pull the inter tube out of his rear motorcycle tire. We got home medium late, and I don't think either of us has caught up since then. But it's not for lack of trying! Anyway, I love being able to just look out the car window and see these views! We are fortunate to have such 3D beauties! Ah-ma-zing!
I am in the middle of creating a website for my friend Victoria. She has opened a color salon here in Elk Park ... Beauty for Ashes Color Salon. She is a wonderful and talented hair professional. If you need a cut, a trim, a consultation, or a cup of coffee ... she's your girl! Victoria's training is from France, and she has it going on! Her color technique is top notch ... hand painted and everything! So call her if you need a good hair salon up here in the mountains. 898-789-9752. She also has a facebook page (Beauty for Ashes Color Salon). There are some photos of Victoria's work on the facebook page. Check it out! I will post the website once I get it up and running ... SOON!
So, my postings haven't been frequent because I've been crazy busy! But perhaps in the next week or so one of my real goals will come to fruition and I will have an etsy shop open. Wouldn't that be something?! And to celebrate that I want to do another give away ... so stay tuned! I would also like to finish weaving the computer sleeves I have on tap. And maybe clean out the refrigerator. So much to do ... :-)
I do hope you have a list of fun things for the weekend. I understand we're in for a total gift from Mother Nature in the weather department up here this weekend. I am so excited! Sunday will be a total day of rest and enjoying the gift of warmth!
Blessings to all!
